Mozzarella Sticks recipe

These cheesy breaded sticks are absolutely delicious either hot or cold and they're much nicer than the pre-packaged variety that you’ll find in the supermarket.

  • 500g mozzarella cheese
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 200g flour
  • 400g Italian breadcrumbs (or any that you have)
  • 2 tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 50g corn starch
  • Oil
  • Salt and pepper

Method of Preparation:

  1. Chop the mozzarella into slices and then slice each slice into stick shapes. Make them about 1.5cm thick.

  2. Pour the beaten eggs into a shallow dish.

  3. In a large shallow bowl, mix together the Italian breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic salt, paprika and salt and pepper.

  4. In another shallow bowl, mix together the flour and the corn starch.

  5. Dip the mozzarella sticks into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and then into the breadcrumbs. Dip into the eggs again and then into the breadcrumbs again.

  6. Heat a deep-fat fryer to 360F and fry the mozzarella sticks in batches. They only take a minute or so to cook as they're so small, so keep an eye on them.

  7. Serve them whilst still hot.
