Dark Chocolate Peppermint Snaps recipe

These chocolates are dead simple, yet really impressive. Serve them as gifts on their own or with the mint chocolate truffles for a tasty party favour.

  • 300g dark chocolate
  • 3 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. peppermint extract
  • Few drops of green food colouring (optional)

Method of Preparation:

  1. Line a thin baking tray with greaseproof paper.

  2. Break the chocolate up into small pieces and then place into a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of just simmering water. Make sure that the bowl is not touching the water.

  3. Stir the chocolate until completely melted.

  4. Stir together the sugar, peppermint extract and food colouring (if using).

  5. Allow the chocolate to cool for a few minutes and then mix in the sugar.

  6. Pour the chocolate mixture into the baking tray and then smooth it out until you have a thin layer of chocolate.

  7. Allow to cool completely and then either cut into squares or snap into shards.
