Chocolate Cake recipe

This chewy gooey chocolate cake is not the prettiest chocolate cake ever made, but it absolutely makes up for it in taste. Make two of these in standard cake tins and sandwich them together with one of our icing recipes below.

  • 300g chocolate
  • 250g caster sugar
  • 150g butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. flour

Method of Preparation:

  1. Bash the chocolate so that it breaks into small pieces. Place it into a heatproof bowl, along with the caster sugar and butter.

  2. Place the bowl over a saucepan of barely simmering water and melt all of the ingredients together.

  3. Meanwhile, beat the eggs with the flour until slightly fluffy.

  4. Once the chocolate mixture is melted, take it off of the heat and slowly mix it into the eggs.

  5. Once combined, pour it into a greased, lined, cake tin.

  6. Cook the cake for up to an hour in an 180C oven. Youíll have to make sure itís cooked in the middle, but if you stick a skewer into the middle of the cake it wonít come out clean Ė just make sure the cake isnít liquid. Once itís cooled down, the cake will become very dense and delicious.

  7. Serve the cake cooled.
